Have you ever wanted to sell everything you own and just "take off?" Travel the country's back roads, paddle down a meandering stream, experience breath-taking mountain views, walk among 100-year old trees, and just marvel at America's beauty? That is the dream that my partner, Betsy, and I decided to make a reality. This blog describes our adventure. The food we eat, people we meet, sights we see, and the enjoyment we find in traveling.

2017 Travel Plans

We left our wintering grounds in the Florida Panhandle behind us and are looking forward to the bus wheels rolling and doing some traveling this summer.  So far we have no plans to work which will allow us more time to visit and experience new places.  The last three years we have called Maine our summer home but this year that will change as we plan to head to the Upper Midwest and out west to California.  Yes, Maine will be missed but the big water of the Great Lakes and new adventures
call to us!

The Upper Midwest is a couple thousand miles away and we’ll take a month to get there because there are always interesting places we’ve not been to that have something interesting to see and do.  First on the 2017 travel list is the historic town of Fairhope, Alabama located on Mobile Bay.  Next up is the military-rich town of Vicksburg, Mississippi.  We’ll spend a couple of weeks exploring more of Arkansas, where we plan on digging for diamonds at Crater of Diamonds State Park.  Easter will have us hanging out in Fort Smith with family where I’m sure we will share lots of laughs, good times, and delicious food.

Our Entegra motorhome turns two years old in May so we will be back at the factory in Middlebury, Indiana for our final service appointment (taking advantage of our two-year warranty).  The timing coincides with Entegra’s “Homecoming” rally where the 2018 models will be revealed.  We attended last years event and had a great time.  The rally consists of informational seminars, afternoon excursions, evening themed dinners, factory tour, on-site maintenance repairs, and lots of fun mingling with other Entegra owners (and potential owners as some rallies are open to non-Entegra owners).

After talking with Michiganians this past winter it seems we will need a couple of months in the “The Great Lakes State.”  The consensus is that the west side is the prettiest so we will hug the coast heading north and then venture into the Upper Peninsula.  From there we will probably head out west.  Our route is not planned which will be the fun part of traveling this summer.  A few years ago we spent two years traveling through the western United States but there are still many more places we are anxious to see that we have not been to.  What fun this life is!  Stay tuned!
